“E” is for every day

Posted by Leigh on April 5, 2012 in A to Z Challenge |

Every day but not everyday.

Do you commute to work?  Drive the same road, take the same exit and most of the year that route is mundane and sometimes tedious due to traffic, but you have to do it. It becomes everyday, common, a hassle.

The Department of Transportation has worked to improve this issue for motorist.  In the spring I can be cruising along at 70 mph (+/-5) and come around a curve and wow!

My eyes light up at the bright colors and beautiful displays.  It feels like a visual rest stop.  And it turns the everyday hassle into a treat and I smile.

The same can be said for hiking in the mountains, going up steep inclines where there are only rocks and dirt but then to walk into a clearing and see on display before you a calliope of color and fragrance that brings an arduous journey into a new realm of discovery.

Rediscovering my faith and understanding more about what it meant to live the life God wanted for me, was like walking along a path and discovering a glade of wildflowers.  A surprise and a gift but one I had to seek out.

There are wildflowers on my journey as well, but just like the hiker or commuter, I have to look for them, and yes, sometimes they will sneak up on me.  I have to keep my head up, and my eyes open so that I can catch the glimpses of God moving in my life and in the lives of those around me.

And I have to do this every day so that my life does not become everyday.

30-33“If God gives such attention to the appearance of wildflowers—most of which are never even seen—don’t you think he’ll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you? What I’m trying to do here is to get you to relax, to not be so preoccupied with getting, so you can respond to God’s giving. People who don’t know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met.  Matthew 6:30-33 (MSG)

D is for Disciple

Posted by Leigh on April 4, 2012 in A to Z Challenge, Jesus |

Yesterdays post on C-Christian naturally segues into D for Disciple.  That’s what the followers of Jesus were called, no, not just the top 12, but all of the followers.  The top 12 were the apostles (hey I didn’t know the difference either until I got me some learning). By definition a disciple is a. One who […]

Do I want to be called a Christian?

Posted by Leigh on April 3, 2012 in A to Z Challenge, Matthew 4:23 |

I am diving back into blogging. One of the ways I am going to be doing this is the A to Z challenge for April.  Today is the letter C. I am very active in my local church but there are also several pastors I listen to on-line as well.  One is Andy Stanley from North […]
